The Secondary Education Examination (SEE) Program is Nepal's national-level assessment for Grade 10 students, administered annually by the National Examination Board (NEB). Introduced in 2017 (2074 B.S.) under the Education Act 2073, it replaced the historic School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam — often called the "Iron Gate" — with a modern letter-grading system to reduce exam stress, promote holistic evaluation, and better reflect student competencies. The SEE certifies completion of basic secondary education (Grades 9–10) and serves as the key eligibility criterion for admission to higher secondary education (+2 or Grades 11–12) in streams such as Science, Management, Humanities, Education, Law, and technical/vocational pathways. By assessing core knowledge, critical thinking, and practical skills across compulsory and optional subjects, the program supports equitable access to further studies, guides career choices, and aligns with Nepal's goals for quality, inclusive, and future-oriented school education.

Managed centrally by the National Examination Board (NEB) through its Office of the Controller of Examinations, the SEE is a standardized, high-stakes yet reformed national exam taken by hundreds of thousands of students each year (typically in March–April).
